Nairobi County Assembly Journalists’ Association elects new Leaders

Nairobi County assembly journalists Association has elected into office a new set of leaders to represent their interests at City Hall.

The new changes come barely a year after the past regime’s tenure ended and elections were not conducted because of Covid-19 and leadership wrangles at City Hall.

Allan Otieno of Ghetto Radio was elected chairman with Tuko News’ political and current affairs journalist John Rapando as his deputy.

The secretary Position went to Ford Antynet of K24 Digital while Jackton Lawi of People Daily filled the position of the whip.

New positions include the treasurer, chief team photographer, and patron that were filled by Shadrack Nyakoe of Hot News, Samson Apondi of the Standard, and Erick Ludeya of the Times Newspaper respectively.

Speaking after the election, Allan Otieno asked members to cooperate and support each other for the best outcome.

“We are going far as a team, be reminded that united we stand and divided we fall. I pledge to bring the best as far as the plight of members here is concerned. I would also want to note that we are all equal and deserve equal opportunities,” he said.

John Rapando asked the members to cooperate in bringing in unity, cohesion and understanding.

The new team will run the office for two years.
