The wife to Dutch tycoon Herman Rouwenhorst (pictured), who was found dead at his Shanzu apartment in Mombasa county last Friday, has now recanted her statement to homicide detectives.
Riziki Cherono Ali in her statement to sleuths drawn from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters yesterday claimed she was kidnapped by two masked men from her bedroom and ordered to drive her car towards the Serena area with her two hands tied to the steering wheel.
This was contrary to her earlier statement last Friday that she was bundled into her vehicle by two heavily built men, with one driving her car, while the other one kept watch over her at the back seat.
Cherono had told police that the five men, who allegedly gained entry into her bedroom at around 1 am were armed with brunt objects.
Come yesterday, she changed her statement stating that they were infact, armed with pistols. She also told police in her latest statement that her late husband was drinking before he was killed. Detectives have further established that the suspects in the murder of the 55-year old tycoon were well known to the victims.
