Renowned media personality Sophia Wanuna has left Mombasa Road-based media company Standard Group.
Wanuna, who served as the Broadcast Division’s deputy editor at KTN, has not yet announced her resignation from Standard Group.
Wanuna informed the Standard Group management that she would be resigning for personal reasons.
Peter Opondo, who had been sacked, was replaced as the new Broadcast Content Editor in July 2021 by Sophia Wanuna, who was appointed in an acting capacity.
In an internal Memo authored by the then Editor in Chief Ochieng Rapuro, Wanuna’s appointment took effect on July 15, 2021
“Last Friday, Our Editor Broadcasting Peter Opondo left the company to pursue other interests.
“I have therefore appointed Ms Sophia Wanuna to take charge of this segment of our operations until further notice.
“The editorial staff is hereby notified to collaborate with Ms Wanuna for purposes of keeping our broadcast operations and our promise to deliver quality, in-depth and timely content to the consumer on course. Ms Wanuna takes charge beginning July 15, 2021” read the internal Memo in 2021.
Other prominent names that have left Standard Group recently include; Lofty Matambo, Frida Mwaka, Ben Kitili, Brian George Otieno, Roselyn Obala, Ibrahim Karanja, Brian Obuya, and Nicholas Wambua, and Brenda Kerubo among others.
On the radio side; Standard Group has lost the following talents Billy Miya, Linda Oriaso, Ali Hassan Kauleni, Mwalimu, Emmanuel Mwasumbe, Mbaruk Mwalimu, and Beatrice Maganga are all said to have found a new home at Radio 47 among others.
