The incumbent Anthony Oluoch of the ODM has won the closely contested Mathare MP race, with singer Kevin Kioko aka Bahati coming in third place.
Oluoch led by 28,098 votes, and Billian Ojiwa of the UDA garnered 16, 912. Bahati came in third with 8,166 votes while vying on a Jubilee Party ticket.
Earlier, Bahati requested the IEBC to expedite the tallying process since he was confident he would win.
Additionally, he alleged that a few voting boxes had been tampered with.
“DEAR I.E.B.C We Need Answers!!! Everything is at Stand Still at The St. Teresa’s Tallying Centre and We can Sense Rigging Plans…. TELL US WHAT’S HAPPENING!!!
“I have been waiting to be declared the winner and to be handed over the official certificate as the Mathare MP-elect,” he wrote on social media.
Since entering the tumultuous world of politics, Bahati has had to deal with a variety of difficulties, including being urged to abandon his campaign for the parliamentary seat, alleging that he was attacked by goons, and even sobbing in public.
He stated last week that he had spent more than Sh30 million funding his campaign, and that sum was expected to rise.
The musician said that he plans to run for president in 2037.
