Former US President Barack Obama confirmed on Sunday that he had tested positive for COVID-19 and that he was otherwise healthy, other than experiencing a scratchy throat.
“I’ve had a scratchy throat for a couple of days, but am feeling fine otherwise,” Obama wrote on Twitter.
“Michelle and I are grateful to be vaccinated and boosted, and she has tested negative.”
After spending part of the winter in Hawaii, Obama had just returned to Washington, DC.
According to CNN, a source close to the 60 year old politician said he had tested positive in DC.
The former US president tweeted: “It’s a good reminder that, even as cases go down, you should get vaccinated and boosted if you haven’t already to help prevent more serious symptoms and giving COVID to others”.
