The parents of the Kenyan teenager whose body was found near Douglasville’s Arbour Place Mall have spoken on the last conversation they had with their son Yaron Kathuri.

Vera Kathuri, the mother of the deceased said: “We assured him that all was well and we loved him a lot but he still went ahead and disappeared leaving us with the work of searching for him.”

The teen had left the house on the day of his disappearance to go to school, but according to American detectives, he never showed up.

According to police, he entered the mall’s parking lot and started calling his parents, who reportedly told him to return home.

He did not go home and could later go silent on everyone and a search for him was launched.

“I had on that day woke him up at 7am and we prayed together as I told him that God loved him. He then left for school,” she said.

Young Kathuri often complained that he was a burden to his family, but the mother kept on telling him to always pray when he felt low.

“When he left for school, he called while crying. So, we kept trying to get him to just come home, telling him it was okay. And the phone went silent after that. And that was the last conversation,” she said.
