Attorney Paul Gicheru will be laid to rest on Thursday, at his farm in Bahati, Nakuru County.
While Gicheru’s funeral arrangements are in progress, ongoing police investigations have not yet produced any conclusive evidence.
The Regina Caeli Catholic Church in Karen will host his funeral mass on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. (EAT).
Gicheru, who passed away on September 26, 2022, was facing charges of extortion and witness intimidation in connection with the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) unsuccessful prosecution of President William Ruto regarding the post-election violence in Kenya in 2007–2008.
Gicheru’s family has given conflicting statements regarding what might have led to his passing.
An autopsy was done on Friday, but the results of that procedure are still a mystery.
In February 2022, the ICC prosecutors alleged that Gicheru had paid witnesses up to Sh1 million in bribes.
Additionally, according to the authorities, Gicheru held one of the ICC witnesses at gunpoint. The 52-year-old pleaded not-guilty.
