The Governor of Meru, Kawira Mwangaza has responded to those who have questioned her decision to award her husband Murega Baicu two positions in her government.
Through her Facebook page, Kawira claimed that she would not have succeeded in becoming governor without the support of her husband.
“To many that see you wanaona “jamaa wa makofia” what they forget is that without you there would be no “Governor ni Mama” in Meru county,” she said.
Kawira observed that, except from her spouse, no one else supported her during her efforts.
“You the only person that believed in me when no politician would stand by me and campaign for me. Through your talent I was able to hold campaign rallies and visit home to home,” she said.
When she was the women representative in Meru, Kawira said, her husband still had faith in her.
“Through your belief and unequivocal support, I became the best woman rep in whole of Kenya,” she said.
She named Baicu the ambassador for the Hustlers and patron of the Meru Youth Service on Friday.
Mwangaza stated that Murega’s role will not be paid or compensated but rather more of a volunteer while he serves the county. She made this statement during the unveiling of her cabinet.
