Two police officers were yesterday charged in a Naivasha court with murdering a peasant farmer in Kinangop, Nyandarua county, six months ago.

Constable Luka Kiragu and Morris Muthui were charged that on June 16, 2021 in Kamakwa centre in North Kinangop, they jointly murdered Daniel Muthee.

The two were arrested six months after the incident after investigations revealed that they were involved in a fight with the deceased outside one of the bars in the area.

The two, who were represented by lawyer David Gichuki, denied the charge before High Court Judge Grace Ngenye. They were released on Sh1 million bond and a surety of the same or a cash bail of Sh500,000. The case will come up for pre-trial on May 23, 2022.
