Police in Embu have launched an investigation into the death of a prison officer’s son.
The body of the four-year-old boy was found dumped at Muraru area in Embu County.
The boy disappeared on Friday, December 3 only to be found dead two days later.
His mother, a prison officer based in the region, has recorded a statement at Embu West police station.
Mr Julius Kyumbule, the Embu West Sub-County police boss said a suspect, who is known to the prison officer, is being held and is assisting police with investigations.
“We are holding a suspect and he will be charged in court if established that he is responsible for the death of the child,” Mr Kyumbule said.
The deceased was spotted by residents who alerted the police before the body of the minor was taken to the mortuary.
Residents suspect that the boy was picked from school by his assailant.
“It was a school day and we want to know what really transpired,” county police commander Mr Daniel Rukunga said.
It is suspected that the young boy could have been killed elsewhere before being dumped.
