Drama ensued along Thika Road on Sunday night, April 18 after police officers barricaded the road yet again.

During the operation, police officers lit a bonfire to keep them warm through the night as they enforce the dusk to dawn curfew.

Videos widely shared online showed police officers offloading firewood from a parked Land Cruiser in the middle of the road.

The officers also said the bonfire would keep curfew offenders warm until 4am.

Kasarani OCPD Peter Nyaga who ked the operation said curfew offenders would spend the night on road until 4am.

The police boss, however, took issue with some essential services providers who he claimed were abusing the power handed to them.

“You people who are service providers, If you are not engaged on duty, you are abusing that privilege. We are not going to allow that.

“Only the service providers on duty will be allowed to pass. It is curfew time, it is curfew time. If you are here, you will stay here till morning,” Nyaga told the motorists.
