Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko ranked the favourite of Mombasa residents according to Mizani Opinion polls.
The vocal politician aims to clinch Coastal City’s top seat through the Wiper Party ticket despite the controversies surrounding his candidature.
On the freshly released polls, Sonko boasts 34.6 per cent in an “all run” scenario meaning that he can easily beat all the other contenders.
Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance’s Abdul Swamad Nassir followed Sonko at a distant 27.1 per cent popularity while Kenya Kwanza’s coalition Hassan Omar took the third position at 26.3%.
Barely a day after the court barred Sonko’s candidature, he rubbished the orders saying he will not be slowed down from his interest to serve the residents of Mombasa.
“Hizi ma interim court orders kuni block hazitanislow down nisifanyie wanainchi Kazi. The law is very clear, let’s see who will laugh mwisho,” Sonko wrote on Twitter on Wednesday morning.
