President Uhuru Kenyatta commended World and Olympic Marathon Champion Eliud Kipchoge and Brigid Kosgei on their outstanding accomplishments at the Tokyo Marathon on Sunday.
The Head of State congratulated the pair on their victories, which included the fastest times ever run on Japanese soil in their respective races.
“Uhuru has congratulated Kipchoge and Kosgei for their sterling performance in their respective races at the Tokyo Marathon 2021,” reads a post on Kenya’s State House social media page.

Kipchoge won the Tokyo Marathon on his first attempt, setting a new course record of 2:02:40 seconds.
The elite runner now has won four of the major World Major Distance races, becoming only the second person to accomplish it since Wilson Kipsang in 2006.
Brigid Kosgei, meanwhile, accomplished the Kenyan double in Tokyo by completing the women’s race in 2:16:02 seconds.
