Raila Odinga, Azimio-One Kenya Alliance presidential hopeful, departed from Kenya for the United States of America on Friday. Raila and his entourage flew to the United States for a one-week tour.
Raila departed the state just after midday, according to the ODM party, for Washington, DC.
“Party leader Raila Odinga this afternoon departed for the US for a one-week official visit. We wish our Party Leader and his entourage safe skies,” the ODM party stated in a tweet.
He left the country immediately after announcing the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance lineup in the capital, Nairobi.
Raila is anticipated to meet with representatives from the US Chamber of Commerce, the US State Department’s National Security Council, and the Kenyan Diaspora.
He also intends to meet with a number of IT titans in Silicon Valley, San Francisco, with the goal of promoting IT and technological cooperation between the two states.
“Raila will outline his vision for Kenya, underline the importance of the strategic and historic US/Kenya relationship and the vital interests that the two counties share in the region,” The Azimio spokesperson Makau Mutua said in a press statement on Wednesday.
