Raila Odinga Appoints Makau Mutua to Lead His Presidential Campaign

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga named Prof Makau Mutua, a famous scholar and accomplished lawyer, as his campaign’s spokesperson and director of the Secretariat’s think tank on Tuesday, March 1.

Raila’s Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party head said in an announcement that the outspoken professor has extensive political and legal expertise that would boost his campaign team.

Mutua has had significant responsibilities both in and out of the country, according to the former Premier.

“Mutua is a frequent communicator in the electronic and print media on human rights, international law, and politics

“He was a member of the New York State Judicial Screening Committee which recommends candidates for the appointments of state’s Judiciary,” Raila remarked.

Apart from being outspoken on social media, Raila lauded Mutua for his human rights activism in Kenya.

“Thank you, Raila for the trust you’ve placed in me and the privilege of serving you and the people of Kenya in these vital roles. Our march to State House is unstoppable. Because it is destiny,” he said.

Following the announcement, Mutua moved to social media to thank Raila for believing in him and promised to assist the ODM leader in winning the August elections.

“Thank you, Raila for the trust you’ve placed in me and the privilege of serving you and the people of Kenya in these vital roles. Our march to State House is unstoppable. Because it is destiny,” he stated.

As a result, supporters of Azimio La Umoja flocked to social media to congratulate him on his selection and express their confidence in his stewardship.

“Congratulations my friend on this opportunity help birth the promise of a new tomorrow and the great possibilities that we hope will come with it. You merit and are up to the task. Godspeed,” Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu commented.

Following his appointment, the outspoken academician will join a team of high-profile Kenyans who will be in charge of Raila’s campaign Secretariat.

Raila confirmed the appointment of Laikipia Governor Ndiritu Muriithi as Chairperson of his campaign secretariat and finance expert Elizabeth Meyo as the secretariat’s Chief Executive Officer on January 5. (CEO).

On February 14, the ODM boss also named Dennis Onsarigo, a former KTN journalist, as the campaign secretariat’s press secretary.
