The infamous “axe man,” who has been frightening the people of Mbiri Kiharu for weeks, has been taken into custody by Murang’a police.
Samuel Maina was taken into custody following a thorough police search in Kenol town. David Kainga, the commander of Murang’a County police, stated that the individual had been the subject of police pursuit for approximately three weeks.
Speaking to the media, the commander added that the victims had positively identified the culprit.
“The suspect has been coming to Murang’a to raid a home, then he disappears for two to three days and then he strikes again,” Kainga (pictured) explained.
“His home is Maragua ridge though the family claims he has not been there for some time. We have established that he has a hideout in one of the slums in Nairobi,” he added.
His arrest will be a relief for the residents who have been living in fear with some of them leaving their homes to go rent homes in Murang’a town
