A passenger on one of Kenya Airways’ flights from Nairobi to New York has died, making it the second similar incidence to be recorded in a period of nine days. Kenya Airways has verified this.
In a statement released on Friday, the airline, commonly known as KQ, stated that the unidentified customer died on September 2, 2022, at at 6.30 am.
“A passenger was found to be unresponsive,” KQ said.
“Upon further medical examination, personnel confirmed that the passenger had passed away. The flight had departed Nairobi per schedule on Thursday September 1 at 11.55pm.”
The incident happened on board KQ002.
“We convey our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased and sincerely apologise to our other guests for the inconvenience,” the carrier added.
On one of its flights from New York to Nairobi, KQ reported last month that another passenger had passed away. Later, he was confirmed to be 66-year-old dual US-Kenyan citizen Peterson Njuguna Mwangi.
The airline says that the traveler began experiencing breathing problems seven hours after the jet departed New York before passing away. He had a history of diabetes, according to a family spokesman.
The incident happened on Monday August 22 aboard flight KQ003.
