After a school bus transporting a number of people collided in Taita, Taita Taveta County, on Saturday night, several individuals are thought dead.
The collision involved a bus carrying students from Memon Academy and happened at Joska’s black spot in Taita.
According to reports, the bus was transporting teachers to a funeral service.
When we went to the press, at least three deaths had been confirmed.
“There is a bad crash at Taita on Josa black spot involving Memon school bus (was carrying adults)… People have lost their lives(bodies lying on the ground), and rescue is ongoing,” Sikika Road Safety reported.
Unknown as of yet is the precise number of passengers the bus was carrying.
According to reports, the injured people received emergency care at a local hospital.
Images of the bus that was involved in the collision suggest that it may have rolled more than once.
Suleiman Shabal, an EALA MP, is one of the Kenyans who conveyed condolences to the relatives of the deceased and well wishes for the injured.
“I’m saddened by the reports of an accident involving the Memon Academy bus carrying teachers travelling to attend a funeral. The accident in Taita Taveta County is reported to have led to the loss of some of the teachers on the bus,” Shabal stated.
“My prayers and that of my wife Rahma go out to the family of the deceased, the injured, and the school management. May Allah rest the departed souls in eternal peace.”
