Strathmore University joins hands with Kodris Africa in Coding Education, Research

Strathmore University and Kodris Africa, an educational technologies firm, have teamed up to advance coding education and research in Kenya. The partnership aims to enhance the quality and relevance of coding education and research in the country, fostering innovation and collaboration in the field of coding, also known as programming or software development.

The collaboration will involve sharing educational materials, organizing joint programs, and working together on industry-specific research projects. Additionally, Strathmore and Kodris will collaborate on curriculum reviews and seek joint funding for grants and research initiatives.

Strathmore University’s Director of Academics, Henry Muchiri, emphasized the importance of equipping students with the necessary tools to succeed in the global digital economy. He praised Kodris Africa’s resources as beginner-friendly and essential for fostering a culture of innovation and excellence in coding education and research in Africa.

Kodris Africa CEO, Mugumo Munene, highlighted the partnership’s role in supporting students to acquire 21st-century skills such as algorithmic thinking, design thinking, critical thinking, and problem-solving. He described the partnership as a beacon for fostering innovation and shaping the future of education and technology in Africa.

Kodris Africa is the first publisher in Kenya to receive approval from the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development to offer content for teaching coding in primary and secondary schools.
