Suspect allegedly attacks police officer with Jembe

A suspect attacked a police officer in Kisii with a jembe, leaving him with significant wounds.

The suspect, Anthony Rakamba is said to have attacked the officer when he arrived at his residence accompanied by other officers.

At the time, the police invaded his home after receiving a tip to apprehend him for amputating his neighbor’s hand. To avoid being arrested, he had hidden himself.

“He was awakened by the police, and when he realized they were come to take him into custody, he opened the door and assaulted the officer with a hand hoe, severely cutting him on the head. The policeman also sustained a broken arm, “Hassan Bashir, the deputy police commander for Masaba North Sub-County, said.

In his defense, the cop shot him to render him unconscious prior to the arrest.

The injured cop and suspect were transported to the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital after receiving emergency care at the Kerok Sub-County Hospital (KTRH).
