Two male suspects have been taken into custody by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), who are suspected of posing as Kiambu Law Courts employees.
Joseph Murimi Njue and Samuel Morara Nyambane were detained when they showed up at the DCI’s Kiambu offices to offer aid in the capture of a suspect.
“The two had cited frustrations from the Investigating officer in a case of obtaining money by false pretence that was allegedly recorded at Central Police Station, Nairobi,” the DCI said in a statement.
The investigators asked the pair to present their identification documents as they were sceptical about accepting their account.
“The duo had thought that they would outwit the crime busters when they claimed they hadn’t carried them hence they were subjected to further background checks where it was established that they were imposters leading to their arrest and subsequent arraignment,” said the DCI.
The background checks later revealed that the duo are part of an elaborate team of swindlers who have been duping unsuspecting Kenyans.
“The Directorate of Criminal Investigations wishes to inform any persons who may have fallen victim of the two to report at the DCI Headquarters,” said the DCI.
