The body of a 42-year-old man was discovered naked and placed in a banana plantation, shocking the residents of Icangi village in Mwea East sub-county.
Hesbon Munene’s body was discovered close to his clothes in a situation that suggested there had been a struggle before his death.
His brother, Francis Muriithi said that the victim had been suffering from a mental illness since he had an accident a while back, and that they are baffled as to why he was killed.
Muriithi claimed that going to farm discovered his brother’s body and clothes and alerted the police.
The deceased’s mother, Nancy Wangithi, claimed that he loved sugarcane, which she believed led to his death because a neighbor had approached her to warn her of serious consequences if her son continued harvesting the crop.
At the scene of the crime, police performed a preliminary inquiry before moving the body Kerugoya Hospital mortuary pending post mortem.
