A Kenyan woman named Beatrice  Mangure who relocated to Kenya in 2013 to vie for a senatorial seat has appealed to people to help her with money to solve her eye problem and get a car for taxi business. Afrimax, a local channel shared Beatrice’s story to raise awareness about her situation and get her help.

She says she decided to relocate to America after her marriage of six years crashed. The business blossomed to the point that she could afford a nice apartment.

While admitting that life was not easy in America, and that she dealt with depression owing to her failed marriage, Beatrice said she made millions there.

She says she owned two cars and was doing well. Later she decided to move back home After repeatedly falling and hurting herself, Beatrice said she thought it wise to return to Kenya and settle down.

However, that was where her problems started.

In her words: “When I relocated back here to Kenya, I carried all my stuff and even bought new stuff. I had put them in a container but I lost it all. “It never arrived in Kenya. I came back with only two suitcases that I carried at the airport.

That was what I brought back to this country. I lost things that were a lot of money, running in millions. But I didn’t get anything.”

All businesses she ventured into after arriving in Kenya had a sad turnout as people defrauded her. Now, the woman makes ends meet as a taxi driver, using someone else’s car on lease.

Eunice Mbugua’s Unforeseen Surprises and Eye-Opening Moments in Missouri

Published

on

Eunice Mbugua’s excitement and anticipation surged as she embarked on her first-ever flight from Nairobi to Springfield, Missouri, initiating her master’s journey through The KENYA Airlift Program.

The breathtaking views from the window, as the plane gracefully soared above the clouds, etched unforgettable moments into her memory. As the plane descended into Springfield, she couldn’t help but marvel at the incredible adventure that marked the commencement of her new life in America.

Eunice Mbugua at Missouri State University

Landing at Missouri State University in Springfield, she was met with unexpected differences from Kenya. The clean, orderly streets and the apparent absence of people outdoors presented a serene contrast. The strict adherence to traffic rules stood out, as did the sight of individuals confidently wearing very light summer clothes. These observations marked the beginning of Eunice’s journey into the distinctive cultural landscape of her new American surroundings.

Reflecting on her initial days, she recounts the challenges of navigating the various buildings on campus. However, she has since seamlessly adjusted to life in Springfield. Despite the ache of missing her family, friends, and the familiar flavors of Kenyan cuisine, the realization that she is in the land of opportunities provides her with both comfort and the resilience to persist.

By MAGGIE MARIKA

For a long time the Diaspora community has been mostly an after thought for many Kenyan leaders.

Often remembered during campaign season particularly as a fund raising effort or to influence the votes.

Times are changing where we have leaders choosing to partner with the Diaspora and have the Diaspora voice well represented in the grassroots.

The power of the Diaspora influence in Kenya is well documented and their impact to the society clearly articulated from the remittances to stabilizing the Kenya shilling during turbulent time, unwavering commitment to invests and philanthropic activities. Long gone are the times when the Diaspora was a passive observer of Kenyan politics, increasingly the Diaspora is becoming a stake holder in shaping the future of Kenya.
