A cloud of sadness engulfed Stima Line Estate in Mazembe, Nakuru County when a 30 year old man who was purportedly depressed committed suicide yesterday evening.
The man climbed a national 4-line power grind to end his life, got electrocuted, and burned alive.
The man identified as Peter Karanja was a Bodaboda rider and had left his house in a hurry without telling his wife where he was going. The couple’s home is about 300 metres from where he was found dead. His wife was alerted later that he had been found dead.
Nakuru Town West Police Commander Samson Gathuku said the man died on the spot after touching the live wire.
He said Mr Karanja was being treated for mental problems and had been discharged from hospital three days earlier.
“We have commenced our investigations to establish what might have led to his death,” Mr Gathuku said.
The body was moved to the Nakuru Level Five Hospital morgue.
