President William Ruto, according to First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto, has always been a kind parent.
Mama Ruto said candidly about how the Head of State’s compassion and goodwill inspired him to give the shoes he was wearing to a pastor who was without shoes.
When the pair traveled to Lodwar, they happened upon a pastor who was bare feet. President Ruto donated his shoes.
“There was one Turkana pastor who came to see us and he did not have shoes. My husband removed his shoes and gave them to the pastor and he walked barefoot,” recalled the First Lady.
Mama Rachel also recalled a time her husband share a story of how when he was a small boy, he donated cash meant for buying his clothes to the church.
“My husband is a giver and this always touches my heart. He had saved some money which he ha gotten from selling maize and wanted to buy himself a pair of Pepe Jeans for Christmas. But because he never managed to buy the jeans, he gave all the money he had (to the church),” narrated the First Lady.
She said that the president has touched her heart in many ways.
Ruto’s generosity, she said, has sustained their marriage despite the fact that she has known her spouse for the previous 27 years.
Ruto, she claimed, will do everything for the less fortunate.
