Heavy shooting has been reported at Equity Bank, Angawa branch in Kisumu after four armed suspected robbers raided the facility.
The mid-morning confrontation led to heavy shooting around the Kisumu Angawa branch as city residents scampered for safety.
GSU police deployed to the scene arrived at about 11am following a tip-off.
After gaining entry, an eyewitness said they threw a tear gas canister on the floor, forcing some of the customers and staff members to scamper to safety.
The GSU however managed to gain access to the lender’s premises and rescued a number of staff and customers.
The thugs were holed up inside the bank before they were later captured and whisked away by police.
