Alice Wahome, the cabinet secretary for water, irrigation, and sanitation, publicly presented her spouse during interreligious prayers in her central Kenyan hometown.
In a move that enthralled the crowd, the usually formal CS, who has only been in the position for a week, finally displayed her romantic side at the event.
Mrs Wahome, the former Kandara lawmaker had been called upon by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to ‘greet’ the crowd when she seized the opportunity to introduce her better half.
“Wahome is here. Doctor Geoffrey Wahome Ng’ayu, where are you darling?” she added amidst ululation from the crowd.”
“There he is…he’s been escorted by his daughter Wambui. The homestead has its own ruler.”
Ms. Wahome was recently relieved of her duties as a Kandara MP after President William Ruto named her Water CS.
She is a lawyer by trade and over the years has developed a reputation as a politician with no nonsense.
However, she was once seen on camera punching an Independent Electoral and Boundaries Official (IEBC).
Many years later, at her vetting, she was reminded of the incident and expressed her regret in public.
