Nelson Otsianda, the Buruburu Girls High School whose body was found in a pool died by drowning, authorities have revealed.
Mr. Otsianda’s body did not have any injuries according to a post-mortem done at Jocham Hospital mortuary
The family of the teacher who had joined colleagues for a small vacation in Kwale County had said he died under mysterious circumstances.
“He had no soft tissue injuries on his body. This shows that he was not assaulted. Perhaps he was just drunk and fell in the water and did not know how to swim,” Msambweni police boss Fanuel Nasio told a local newspaper.
The secondary school teacher and four colleagues had checked in at Gisimba Villas on November 13 for a couple of days.
Sadly, the same day they arrived in Diani was the same day his lifeless body was found at the hotel’s swimming pool.
Sources had alleged that the teacher was killed and later thrown into the water.
According to a source at the villa, the five were drinking by the pool and playing loud music.
“We found them trying to resuscitate Nelson. The owner of the hotel called police officers who took long to arrive, forcing the friends to hire a boda boda to ferry him to Diani Beach Hospital,” he said.
