A new security feature being developed by WhatsApp would prevent screenshots from being taken after images and videos have been delivered.
The new functionality will prevent screenshot attempts from users when they try to capture any images.
The new WhatsApp function won’t alert the sender when someone screenshots their message, in contrast to Snapchat, which does.
“We’ll keep building new ways to protect your messages and keep them as private and secure as face-to-face conversations,” Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said.
According to WhatsApp beta tracker site WABetaInfo, the functionality was initially discovered while being tested on WhatsApp for iOS. It has not yet been reported on WhatsApp for Android.
It will eventually be made available to all users globally.
The new feature will seek to improve the privacy of the data that users share with other users and WhatsApp groups.
