Why American dating App Bumble has apologized to married city lawyer Donald Kipkorir
Bumble, an American dating app, was forced to apologize to Kenyan famous city lawyer Donald. B. Kipkorir after he discovered an online profile with his information was being used on the app.
Mr Kipkorir stated on the Texas-based, women-first dating app that he would never join a relationship website because he was a devout Catholic.
Dear @BumbleSupport@bumble.. I had never heard of Bumble until today when a friend of mine sent me my following profile showing I am on Bumble .. As a Roman Catholic, I can’t join a Dating Site. Kindly block the person using my profile picture below & my name Donald,” said Mr Kipkorir in his message.
Donald Kipkorir, a wealthy city lawyer, married Noni Weru a few years ago and the couple has a kid. He proposed to her on an Emirates aircraft in late 2017 and paid dowry for her months later in a glamorous traditional ceremony.
Prior to his response to Mr Kipkorir, Bumble’s followers demanded to know what he was doing on the app, and it’s possible that it was his private profile before his friend, Marylyn Nganga, found it.
“Wewe ni fisi sema tu Ukweli (You are a ladies’ man. Just tell the truth),” laughed Alfred Bii.
“Marylyn Ng’ang’a was about to hit the jackpot,” Lawrence Lishy opined.
Hours later, Bumble issued an apology to the vocal city lawyer.
“We’re sorry this is happening! Fake profiles go 100% against our guidelines. Please send us a DM so we can find this account. We’re sorry this is happening! Fake profiles go 100% against our guidelines. Please send us a DM so we can find this account. 💛,” said Bumble in its statement.
Bumble is an American dating app where people interested in each other can match on the app due to shared interests, but it is the woman who has to make the decision on if she will move forward with meeting a person she matched with.
“When members of the opposite sex match on Bumble, women are required to make the first move, shifting old-fashioned power dynamics and encouraging equality from the start.” Bumble said on its official website.
The Bumble App also provides a platform for people to network in making friends or growing one’s professional network.
