Woman caught on CCTV allegedly stealing two phones at a party

A lady has been accused in court of robbing a customer who had come to a pub to celebrate a birthday party of two cellphones valued Sh300,000.

Gladys Wanjiru Mbugua was accused in front of Phillip Mutua, the senior principal magistrate for Kibera.

According to reports, she committed the crime on January 18.

According to information provided to the court, the phone belonged to Mirriam Ngendo Kihiko, who went to the bar with a friend to celebrate a birthday.

After the complainant and her guests had dinner and beverages at the aforementioned bar at around three in the morning, the phone went missing.

According to reports, the culprit was apprehended after investigators from Kabete police station visited the bar and looked over the CCTV tape where she was allegedly seen.

She argued against the accusations and requested a short bond period.

Mbugua was freed on a Sh200,000 bond with a matching surety.

The case will proceed later this month for a mention.
