A woman is currently being held in the Kakamega Women’s Prison cells after failing to collect a Sh100,000 bond.

She pleaded not guilty to defiling two boys aged seven and eight,

Jenipher Sam, the accused, entered the courtroom on Wednesday after having her age and suitability for prosecution determined.

She was accused of defiling the boys in Emusala Village, a sub-county of Kakamega County called Kakamega Central, on February 13 and 14.

“Your honor, the charges are a fabrication, I am not guilty,” she told Kakamega magistrate Josephine Maragia.

The woman had to undergo an age evaluation because it was unclear whether she was an adult, according to state attorney Duncan Mbonzo, who testified before the court.

Mbonzo stated that she was a first-time offender and was not opposed to the accused’s release on bail.

At the same time, he claimed to have five witnesses, including the boy’s guardians and parents, as well as medical professionals who had looked at both the child and the woman. On July 10, the case will be addressed.
