A woman was killed after being swarmed by bees, in the West Ugenya, Siaya County village of Miyare Karadolo.
A tractor Ms. Patricia Atieno Owino hired to plow her field struck a bee colony, which led to the unfortunate occurrence.
A deceased person’s grandson, Mr. Billian Ojiwa, told Nairobi News that his grandma was unable to escape the bees.
“Everyone else managed to flee the scene after the tractor hit a hive where the bees were living and they started attacking people,” said Mr Ojiwa who contested for the Mathare parliamentary seat on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket.
He said his grandma passed away at the hospital where she had been treated.
The tragedy, according to Mr. Ojiwa, happened just three weeks after the family of her grandmother’s late son in the US had been laid to rest.
His body was left in the US for two months while his family raised money to fly it back to Kenya.
